The Falcon Bowls Club have been kind enough to allow us to play Petanque using part of the car park at the back of the clubhouse. We come from firstly the Three Elms where we first started and played until its unfortunate closure 4 years ago and then latterly from the Walnut Tree where we put together another car park pitch but without the same welcome as our previous home.
I’m sure lots of you have played boules, it’s a simple game that can get competitive but we play it in a very friendly manner and enjoy the banter as much as winning matches. Although we have a team that will be known as Falcon Evicts that play in a league, playing within the Falcon provides the opportunity for others to join in and that’s exactly what we’d like to see with this move. If anyone would like to know more then feel free to contact me at [email protected] or have a look on the noticeboards for our home fixtures.
As an update to the previous news about the Falcon now having a Pétanque team, we’d like to make you aware that they play in the Essex Winter League on Sunday mornings and the games usually start between 10:00 am and 10:30 am and mostly finish within 2 ½ to 3 hours.
This winter they only have six home games and the first of these is on Sunday the 19th of November. Obviously we need the ‘pitch' to be free from vehicles on home match days and will ensure the area is coned off accordingly.
Could we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that you do not park on or near the 'pétanque pitch' which, for these of you who haven’t seen it or heard about it, is at the far end of the shingle car park closest to the club.
The fixture list detailing the rest of the seasons fixtures is on the club notice board.
